After falling to Kansas 7-2 on Friday, the Horns roared back to blank KU 3-0 on Saturday and finish the series off 7-2 on Sunday. The Horns have won 12 straight Big 12 weekend series and 24 of their last 25 (!).

Texas lost Game One to Kansas by a score of 7-2 last night. The Longhorns could only manage three hits against a fantastic outing by Jayhawk starter Frank Duncan. Duncan went the distance and controlled the Longhorns all the way, and he is due a hat tip. To be fair, while we said we expected a Texas sweep this weekend, we warned you that the Jayhawk pitchers were no slouches. What we did not foresee was that Kansas would put up seven runs this weekend. Maybe total for the three games, but against a team hitting as poorly as KU has been it is really tough to allow so many runs in one game. Kansas's early scoring came from manufacturing their own runs with singles, sac bunts, and more singles; unfortunately, the Texas defense is what ultimately allowed the insurance.
BON covers Texas 3-0 game 2 win and looks ahead to Texas' chance at hosting a regional:
Texas evened the series with Kansas yesterday, with Parker French once again dominating on the hill in the friendly confines of Disch Falk Field. After yesterday, in which he went the first seven innings of Texas's 3-0 victory, he has now thrown an incredible 32.1 straight shutout innings at home. That makes this part even more important: finishing second in the conference behind presumptive winner Baylor would give Texas a decent shot at hosting a regional under the theory that two team from the Big 12 are likely to be given that honor. Winning today and then taking the Aggie series net weekend would go a long way toward making that a reality, and then we get Super Parker French instead of Still Very Good Parker French for the postseason. Just a thought.
